THE ROLE
Sustana group is growing and to help us achieve our goals, we are seeking an Assistant Corporate Controller to join our finance team. This role will support the Corporate Controller in overseeing financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, financial management, and U.S. tax regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Assistant Corporate Controller will report directly to the Corporate Controller to support the finance department across the organization.
More specifically:
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards (including preparation of footnotes and supporting schedules).
- Assist the Corporate controller in supporting individual plant controllers.
- Oversee general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing processes.
- Support corporate tax planning and ensure compliance with U.S. federal, state, and local tax laws.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax consultants to facilitate corporate audits and tax filings.
- Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
- Contribute to the development of corporate accounting policies and maintain their compliance.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA designation required)
- 5+ years of experience in accounting/finance (ideally with experience in an accounting firm), including some corporate tax exposure. a focus on corporate tax compliance.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. tax laws, GAAP, and financial reporting standards.
- Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting software.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Being able to work in a hybrid environment.
OTHER INFORMATION
The Assistant Corporate Controller will primarily work in an office setting but may require site visits to various locations. Occasional travel may be necessary in Canada and the United States.
