THE ROLE

As the Continuous improvement Leader, you will be the agent of change and will be responsible for management of the North American continuous improvement program and coordination of all activities associated with deployment and execution. You will take the role of a mentors on the application of Stable Ops, DMAIC Lean Six Sigma, Minitab, statistical data and process analysis/implementation tools. Also, you will lead and execute strategic, cross-functional projects with high visibility and impact to the operations, including revenue growth of the company. The incumbent will interact with the organizational leadership team to stimulates thinking by posing new ways of doing things and challenges status quo by demonstrating successful application of new methodologies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Continuous Improvement Leader will report directly to the COO, in order to monitor and improve Sustana’s processes, making them as efficient as possible.

More specifically:

  • Lead and manage quality and continuous improvement program within and across sites. Must be able to challenge the status quo and be a strong communicator. •
  • Subject matter expert in quality, continuous improvement concepts and tools, and LEAN principles to drive breakthrough performance in people, quality, material flow, and cost.
  • Builds a strong network and relationships with internal customers to gain buy-in
  • Drive the mapping of workflows, remove waste and non-value-added activities and recommend solutions.
  • Lead implementation of changes, acting as leader, manager and mentor of entire organization.
  • Partners with Site & Departmental leadership teams to develop and manage a project portfolio.
  • Identify, prioritize and execute projects to improve safety, quality, process capability and customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for working effectively with operations to define process and quality issues, measure current process performance, analyze root cause, and develop/implement targeted process improvement to achieve sustained performance and standard work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality assurance, or continuous improvement.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with operational excellence programs (Lean, TPM, Six Sigma, Kaizen etc.) with related certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of Lean experience from a company with a strong, formal lean business system.  Solid lean tool technical skills, project management experience and decision-making capability.
  • Experience leading strategy deployment and goal deployment, and developing a site-side lean roadmap with demonstrated results
  • Change agent with strong leadership skills, adept at managing human resources and occupational health and safety.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional site leadership, with excellent written and verbal communication skills; well respected by leadership and associates
  • Strategic thinker with strong interpersonal skills and an ability to drive innovation.
  • Project management experience strongly preferred
  • Dynamic, resourceful, and available.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Good judgment, decision-making skills, and abilities in initiative, innovation, and time management.

ADDITIONNAL INFORMATIONS

The incumbent of this position needs to have the ability to travel around Sustana’s facilities (25-30% of the time). We are located across USA and Canada.
