DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION
The Sales and Finance Analyst is responsible for supporting sales performance, pricing strategy, financial accuracy, and market evaluation within Sustana Recovery’s wastepaper recycling and trading operations. This role provides critical analytics related to margins, inventory, pricing, and market dynamics, enabling strategic decision-making and improved business profitability. The analyst collaborates closely with Sales, Finance, Procurement, and Operations to identify opportunities, resolve discrepancies, and enhance reporting processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor recycled paper industry trends, pricing shifts, and market conditions.
- Provide analytics and insights to support Sales in customer performance, revenue trends, and margin optimization.
- Maintain a biweekly margin-management process, auditing order-level performance and analyzing the spread between purchase and selling prices.
- Work with internal teams to identify supply chain inefficiencies and recommend improvement initiatives.
- Assist Finance with month-end close activities related to sales revenue, COGS, and inventory valuation.
- Reconcile sales, margin, and inventory data across ERP, pricing tools, and reporting systems.
- Support intercompany billing, pricing verification, and documentation for wastepaper transactions.
- Validate purchase accruals, freight costs, and trading activity adjustments.
- Provide variance analysis, profitability trends, and forecasting insights for leadership review.
- Prepare and present routine revenue, profitability, and performance reporting at the VCM level to Sales leadership and the Controller.
- Support cross-departmental initiatives to strengthen company culture, consistency, and brand alignment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Supply Chain, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales analysis, account management, or a related analytical role.
- Experience in the wastepaper, recycling, or commodities industry (preferred).
- Experience with accruals, margin analysis, inventory valuation, or financial reconciliations.
- Certifications in Data Analytics, Sales Strategy, or related fields (preferred).
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (advanced Excel), SQL, Power BI, or comparable tools.
- Knowledge of CRM and ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and presentation abilities.
- Exceptional organization, time management, and multitasking skills.
OTHER INFORMATIONS
The Sales and Finance Analyst will be expected to travel to Sustana facilities, customer and prospect locations within their geography as needed. Overnight travel will be minimal.
